Mold Inspection in Maryland

Delivering Peace of Mind

Mold Inspection

4U Home is committed to helping you understand potential risks and dangers hiding in your home, which is why we place a special emphasis on indoor air quality. Besides radon, mold is a major indoor air pollutant that can cause asthma-like symptoms and other respiratory problems. 4U Home is a mold inspector certified by the International Association of Certified Indoor Air Quality Consultants (IAC2 Certified). We provide mold inspections for homeowners and home buyers in Carroll County, Howard County and the entire Baltimore-Washington Metro area.

Why is Mold Dangerous?

Mold spores can hide in tiny cracks and crevices throughout your property. Without the proper testing, you may be putting your family in danger of discomfort and even sickness. Our certified inspectors are educated in detecting traces of mold in buildings of all sizes, no matter how big or small the concern.

Mold Causes Breathing Problems

If mold isn’t controlled, it can cause or worsen a variety of health problems, including coughing, sneezing, wheezing, runny nose, eye irritation, headaches, and even skin rashes. People diagnosed with asthma or who have mold allergies can experience severe reactions from mold exposure.

Mold Spores Are Invisible

Unlike radon, mold has a physical presence, but unfortunately its range of pollution far exceeds its physical location. Mold produces mold spores that are invisible and can easily spread throughout your home via your AC system without you knowing you have a problem.

Our Mold Detection Process

maryland visual mold inspection

Visual Inspection

Large and medium-sized mold infestations usually can be detected with a naked eye if you know where to look and what you are looking for. Our skilled inspectors are familiar with mold’s hiding places and start every inspection by visually examining these areas for the signs of mold. Even if you’ve already spotted mold, it’s necessary to check other areas, as it could be in more than one place.

Air Samples

The easiest way to determine if mold is hiding in your home without tearing up floorboards and wallpaper is with an air sample. We gather samples inside and outside of your home, then send them to a nationally accredited laboratory for analysis. The turnaround for air sample analysis is usually a few days, and at the end we receive a detailed report that we share with you.

The air analysis report answers whether there is indeed mold in your home and if so, what kind of mold you are dealing with. Some types of mold are more toxic than others and should be removed as soon as possible. We will suggest remediation services based on your unique situation, as well as offer tips for preventing mold problems in the future.

Air Quality Management

Besides testing for mold, we can also run a variety of tests to measure volatile organic compounds (VOCs and MVOCs) to help identify air quality issues such as meth lab components, Chinese drywall and harmful chemicals that may be in your home. This measurement takes three hours and is performed while home inspection is being conducted. Be sure to mention when you are scheduling your home inspection that you are interested in testing for mold or indoor air quality.
